THE STILLIN

In the wake of the greatest war the world has ever seen, the largest log-built hotel is preparing for its grand unveiling. Beneath its foundations, an ancient malevolence has awoken to find the gate to its domain blocked by a vault — filled with a secret so great — it will change the world.

It’s 1914, the world is on the brink of the first great war, and the isolated community of Sand Rock is confronting an even greater threat. Nearly thirty years have passed since the ancient evil last emerged, and now the gate to its underworld has been sealed by the newly built Sand Rock Hotel. Beneath the massive log structure, the LaChance family has concealed their greatest secret, and its act will cost them everything they care for.

Amidst the growing upheaval, a circus train led by Tobias Springfield travels north to be present for the Hotel’s grand unveiling. It’s a desperate gamble, risking the futures of everyone on board the Springfield night train to save his family circus. Only the Beartalker clan—wealthy lumber barons of Sand Rock—know the truth behind the nightmare awaiting the circus at its destination.

Seventeen-year-old Jonathan Beartalker attends the opening day at the circus with his friend Rasheed Singh, and the two encounter Margarite LaChance, heiress to the hotel’s aristocratic legacy. In their chance meeting, a forbidden romance blossoms between Jonathan and Margarite, challenging the destiny she was raised to take hold of.

As a new era of darkness begins, new friendships are formed, and young love is born, sealing the fates of all who set foot on the land long-guarded by the Stillin.

Book Reviews

Absolutely loved the story. Perfect book to curl up on the couch with a blanket and a warm beverage on a stormy night. The Stillin draws you in further with every page. To find an author whom is also the talented artist for the book is a rare find. Every chapter conjures such vivid depictions and transports you into the story. You can tell it was written with great care and attention to detail. Very much so looking forward to reading more great things to come from this exceptional author.

"Fantastic Read!"

This book was so descriptive, I would compare to how Tolkien describes things. The characters grow on you and it’s hard not to not get attached. I really recommend this book and am looking forward to my friends reading it!

If you like Stephen King and the supernatural genre, this is for you!

Many of the descriptions in the book were so well done you could visualize being there. Although described as being a fantasy or horror story, I found some sentences were quite poetic. I especially loved this one: The shoreline that once filled him with terror appeared much like home, clotted with old twisted white pine, gnarled roots clinging to boulders and hanging over the water like warding off hands.
